To get started with this recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have chocolate mousse using 9 ingredients and 11 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Chocolate Mousse:
  1. Take 200 g Chocolate
  2. Take 3/4 cup Cream
  3. Get 8 Oreo Cookies
  4. Get 1 & 1/2 tsps Butter Melted
  5. Prepare 3/4 tsp Gelatin
  6. Make ready 2 tbsps Water
  7. Get 1 tbsp Caramel Syrup
  8. Prepare 1 cup Cream Whipped
  9. Prepare Chocolate shavings

Chocolate mousse has very few ingredients so it's important to use the best quality chocolate — its flavor will shine through. I like semi-sweet chocolate but if you prefer your mousse with a darker chocolate flavor, use bittersweet. Remember, the higher the cacao percentage, the less sweet the chocolate.. This makes it the perfect make-ahead dessert!

Instructions to make Chocolate Mousse:
  1. In a bowl put dark chocolate and cream and microwave it.
  2. Whisk the melted chocolate and cream and let it cool.
  3. Grind the oreo cookies into a fine powder.
  4. Add melted butter to oreo cookie powder and mix it well.
  5. Make a thin layer in the base of the serving glass and refrigerate it for few mins.
  6. Soak Gelatin in water for at least 5 mins and add it to the chocolate mixture.
  7. Add caramel Syrup and whisk it and refrigerate it for about 10 mins.
  8. Add whipped cream to the chocolate mix and mix it well with a spatula.
  9. Pour the chocolate mousse onto the Oreo cookie base serving glass.
  10. Set for another 15 mins in freezer.
  11. Garnish it with whipped cream, chocolate piece and Oreo cookie on top and the dessert is ready to be served.

While chocolate mousse is just fine all on its own, you can fancy it up by adding a dollop of whipped cream to each dish before serving. Chill metal mixing bowl and mixer beaters in freezer. In top of a double boiler, combine chocolate chips, coffee, rum and butter. The word "mousse" is French for foam, and that's a pretty good way to describe this dessert! It's airy and light as a cloud, with tons of little bubbles and a texture that just melts on the tongue.
